INTRODUCTION

How to make money online in Nigeria was something that consumed me when i was very a lot younger. Because of this hunger, I learnt how to use a computer at a very young age without going to any computer school. How did i do it, I spent a lot of money in cyber cafes searching for the same thing you are searching for but there was not too much proven info as it is today. 2. PICOWORKERS

Picoworkers is another favorite of mine as it has to do with making money online in Nigeria. It is just as it’s name sounds as Pico is a unit prefix in the metric system denoting one trillionth, a factor of 10⁻¹² (0.000000000001). It is a website where people like me and you come to complete small (Pico) jobs and get paid for it. Wondering the type of job you will be doing to make money on Picoworkers?

This is where it gets Interesting. These jobs you will be doing will include

1. Watching YouTube Videos
2. Filling out forms
3. Opening Gmail accounts
4. Visiting a link
5. commenting on blogs
6. Commenting on YouTube Video

The first link “YOUTUBE:+SEARCH+WATCH+LIKE+COMMENT” means that all you need to do is search for a particular keyword, Watch the video, Like it and finally leave a comment, Very simple right, That is probably the easiest $0.07 you will ever make online. 0/80 means that there are 80 slots and 0 person have already completed the task.

If you look, you will see that there are about 5 YouTube jobs on this page i did a screenshot of. This alone means that you can make a whooping 0.07 X 5 which is equal to 0.35.

Mystery shopping is the number 3 on our list of making money tricks that work in Nigeria. It is a very simple concept just like the last two but the concept is totally different as it allows you to

3. Go shopping and get paid

You might have doubt in your minds but mind you this are all methods I have tried myself.

I became a mystery shopper during my National Youth Service in Lagos as a way to make ends meet and I have written CCNA in various Pearson VUE centers in Lagos.
Failed them all and got paid for it.
I failed them because it is part of the deal to fail the exam and try to get the officials take a bribe.

Affiliate marketing is another method to make money online which is on top of my list. This is majorly due to its passive nature. In most cases, you only need to do the work once and the sales will continue to roll in. My younger brother Daniel was the person who opened my eyes to the opportunities around Affiliate Marketing.

He made a video on YouTube promoting a product and included the link in the description box just. People watched the video, clicked on his link and actually made a sale. He was a student of Federal Government College Nibo, at that time. He came back from school after his Senior School Certificate Exam to realize that he had made $700 while he was in school. That is the power of Affiliate Marketing and anybody that is serious can use this method to make money online in Nigeria without paying anything.

What is Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is a very old type of marketing that is performance based. The service or product owner offers you a commission when a sale is made through your marketing efforts. A good example is the real estate agents who usually make a commission when a piece of real estate is either sold or rented. Unlike the real estate I just explained above, Affiliate Marketing online involves you being issued a link which is used to track and identify customers who joined based on your advertising effort.

How you advertise  is simple

1. Start a YouTube channel
2. Start a blog
3. Comment on blogs and on YouTube
4. an so on

The first two i mentioned above “Start a YouTube Channel and Start a Blog” are fortunately some of the ways to make money online that we will be discussing next.

I started Affiliate Marketing immediately after I verified Daniel’s $700 this is proof of my Earnings as at the time of writing this post.

What I did immediately was identify the best affiliate marketing products and services and started promoting vigorously and started promoting vigorously with my blog and YouTube channel. I signed up for Konga.com, Jumia.com, Bluehost, Name cheap, Amazon, Click Funnel, Fiverr Affiliates program immediately. Got my affiliate link and started making videos aimed at reviewing these product or services and encouraging people to buy using my affiliate links.

A good example is when you watch a review video of the new IPhone on YouTube after which you are encouraged to use the link in the video description and make a purchase either on EBay, Konga, Amazon or Jumia. There is a possibility that the owner f the video will definitely make a commission once you make that purchase using their affiliate link.

Here are emails from my most converting affiliate program BLUEHOST.

I chose Bluehost because it is about web hosting. As a web developer, this is something i know a lot about. This means that it is very easy for me to talk about and promote. If you are reading this in Nigeria, you should consider joining the Konga and Jumia Affiliate Program for starters. This is for basically anybody because anything you are interested in promoting is available on these platforms. You can start a blog, joining forums like Nairaland, Post these products with your affiliate link on social media. Even your WhatsApp status is very good place to promote these products.

As a matter of fact, I strongly believe it is still a virgin industry for you to make money online if you know the basics and ready to put in just a little work. How do you make money with a blog in Nigeria

This requires you t put in some more work but this method and Affiliate Marketing is more or less like building a business and the amount of money you can make blogging is limitless. The most popular way to make money online is with Adsense. Adsense is a program owned by google. It allows google place advert on your website and pay you a percentage of what the advertisers paid google. To make reasonable income on Adsense, You must have very large traffic to your website. But affiliate links on several parts of your website will help make the blog even more profitable. Here is how much I have made this month on Adsense.

Large traffic data will also serve as leverage to get companies to advertise on your website or blog. Like the background ads you see on Linka Ikeji’s Blog.

Another way to monetize your blog is to post people’s press release for a fee. Assuming you have a blog named (your-community.com) and you update this blog constantly with events and opinions around your school or community. People in your school or community will definitely take notice this blog and with time they will want their press release, adverts etc on your blog. YouTube is a goldmine. I really do wish I knew this a very ling time ago. Better late than never right?

My YouTube journey started early this year when I met a friend who makes $11,000 monthly posting videos on YouTube. Those adverts you see just before a video starts on YouTube. The overlay adverts and those that need you to skip after 5 seconds does make a ton of money for the owners of those channels.

YouTube channel content creation or Vlogging is more like blogging only that you record a video and talk as opposed to writing blog posts. You can pretty much build your channel around your interest, craft community, lifestyle or just document your journey. By documentation, I mean recording your journey and activities as an undergraduate in a Nigerian university. I can assure you that there are people around the world wondering what life is like in an African or Nigerian University. There are lots of lifetime channels on YouTube you can take a cue from. Good examples are

3. TayoAinaFilms

Tayo just visits various high brow areas in around Nigeria and reviews them basically. You can start from the low brow areas. Your school dorm, Classrooms, or the canteen down the street. All you need is your phone guys.

The main reason is that these videos are not receiving view. This is mainly because this videos are not optimized in such a way that people who are interested in it will find it. Now, that you have created a YouTube channel and understood YouTube SEO. You may have even posted your first video and the views are coming in gradually. Congratulations!

However, You do not get monetized immediately as YouTube requires you to get 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours before you are eligible for monetization on YouTube. Do not be discouraged, I have built 2 YouTube channels that are monetized and i started both this year 2019. My point is that it is doable, You just need to decide to do it and if you are truly passionate about making money online, You will.

7. PUBLISH A BOOK ON AMAZON

Amazon is undoubtedly the biggest eCommerce company in the world. E commerce might be it’s most popular business interest but over the years it has ventured into Cloud computing, Video contents and even music streaming among other things. Amazon recently rolled out a platform which enables just anybody to write a book and put it up on amazon for sale. Amazon delivers the eBook at a lower fee or Prints the book and ship to the customer. All you have to do is wait and collect your money from Amazon. With this platform, you can become a published author from the comfort of your home or dorm and start making a money online selling your books. Yes this is a way to put author right after your name.

Maybe, you are not much of a writer like myself. The solution is to go to google and type (PLR), go through the results and grab a few. These PLR article which stands for Private Label Rights means that the owners have released the rights to these articles or books in the public domain. It is legal for you to download this books, go to fiverr.com (Click here to get an account on fiverr now and get $25 sign up bonus) and get someone to design a book cover for your new book with your picture as the author and your name. It is also important to rename the book.

Taking and selling pictures is another proven method to earn money online in Nigeria as a student and without paying anything. This is actually as simple as it sounds. You just need to take pictures and upload to a few websites I will list below. People come and buy these pictures from these website for professional use and you get a part of the money the buyer paid these websites for your picture. Websites where you can sell your pictures include

This another answer to the question HOW CAN I MAKE MONEY ONLINE. This is a question I have been asked in many of my speaking engagements both in my birth country Nigeria and elsewhere. The platforms I listed above that where you sell Pictures also allows you sell short video clips.

10. GIFTCARD EXCHANGE

As the world is becoming small everyday. Giftcards are increasingly becoming popular as a way to send and receive money world wide. Giftcards are basically cards that was intended to be given as gifts by companies like Apple, Amazon, Google etc. According to Wikipedia, A gift card also known as gift certificate in North America, or gift voucher or gift token in the UK is a prepaid stored-value money card, usually issued by a retailer or bank, to be used as an alternative to cash for purchases within a particular store or related businesses.  This looks more like the Telecom recharge voucher.

How is works is simple. A friend in the US, Canada, or even mexico wants to send you money here in Nigeria. He or she can buy maybe an Amazon or Apple giftcard of say $100, Scratch and send to you numbers. You then need to sell this to someone who needs it. Finding such people is not n easy feat due to the fact that not a lot of person who use IPhone in Nigeria actually do make in-app purchases. The people who get this GiftCards need a platform to sell it and that is where you come in. You can find them by talking to your friends or running an ad on social media.

OPay is considered a fintech company primarily. I, however do not subscribe to that definition for the reasons I explained in This Post.  Opay allows you to become a mobile money agent and make a comfortable commission on a daily basis. They will even ive you a free POS machine. You can do this in 5 easy steps

This is even better if you stay in an read where banks or ATMs are very far like most university hostels in Nigeria. You can also earn money by referring other agents to OPay.

12. SELL PRODUCTS ON JUMIA

Jumia.com.ng has become Nigeria’s biggest online marketplace for services. Jumia’s success has given rise to other businesses such and Jumia food, Jumia travels, Jumia pay and so on.

Jumia’s business model is more like Amazon’s in the sense that it allows individuals to create their own store and sell their own services. Jumia provides the platform, the marketing and logistics.

This means that yoi can immediately start your own store on Jumia already popular platform. Jumia’s popularity in Nigeria as at today according to Alexa Rankings shows that it is the 7th most visited website in Nigeria.

With an estimated monthly visit of over 16 million visitors (Mostly Buyers). You should start a store and sell something on Jumia.com if you are truly passionate about making money online in Nigeria. If you are wondering what to sell and where to get it from. There are two ways to do this

1. Go to a local market, Take pictures of his wares and upload to your Jumia store. Quietly wait for Jumia to contact you when someone places an order for that product. Take it to Jumia, get paid for it. Keep the profit and remit the worth of the product owner. I have done this for a Car dealer in Trade fair market in Lagos Nigeria.
2. Import these products from China. I will be showing a few trusted websites for cheap product importation. In the appropriate section below.

At this point, I guess you want to setup your and start selling immediately. Here’s how

1. Visit https://www.jumia.com.ng/marketplace-vendor/
2. Click on “Start Selling on Jumia”
   
3. Fill out the form and click “Continue”
   
4. At the end you will get two emails, One requires you to verify your email and the second looks like the image below which requires you visit their office for something called “On-Boarding”. This is not compulsory though.
   
5. After your email verification, You can login with your username and password and start uploading products and setting prices for sale. The Admin interface for uploading products and prices looks like this.
   Congratulations! You are ready to start selling products on Jumia and earn money online in Nigeria.

13. SELL PRODUCTS ON KONGA

Konga is Jumia’s biggest competition in Nigeria. It was recently acquired by Yudala which converted it to both an offline and online store. Konga is very popular as it has about 4 Million visitors monthly. It is also the 177th most visited website in Nigeria according to Alexa ranking.

Konga has similar platform just like Jumia that allows anybody create a store and start selling. All you need to do to get started is

1. Click on the button “SELL ON KONGA” located on the top right corner of the Konga.com home page
   
2. Click on Register and fill out the form Just like you did for Jumia and hit continue
3. Verify your email
4. upload your products and let Konga handle the promotion and Logstics

14. BECOME A SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER

I recently spoke at a seminar in UNIBEN where told a group of young people that the internet is the greatest invention of our time. Before social media, people were already making millions online but Social media created a totally different dimension to the online making money strategies. Social Media has created a lot of Millionaires both in Nigeria and around the world. That space is not saturated hence the many opportunities that about. You can take advantage of it today and create not just a job for yourself but also make a lot of money online.

Let us look at the popular Instagram account @Instablog9ja and @TundeEdnut. These two are considered the biggest Social Media influencers in Nigeria today and their platforms are based on Instagram. With a combined followership of about 4 million followers.

Instablog charges about N150,000 per ad while Tunde takes about N100k. Let us be very conservative and assume that they post just an advert a day.

Instablog will be making N4,500,000 (4.5Million) on a monthly basis while Tunde goes home monthly with about N3,000,000 (3Million).

On the internet, people are willing to pay you if you have the crowd just like offline marketing too where billboards in high traffic zones cost a lot more that those in the villages. What you can do is start a twitter, Instagram or even a Facebook account and grow it to the point that you have an appreciable number of visitors.

Find something you are confortable talking about. If you are a student in Nigeria, consider building your platform around your school or community like @unicaltrend, @ui_instablog, @CU_Stars. There are built around University of Calabar, University of Ibadan and Convenant University respectively. You can start one for your department, your passion and so on.

Growing this requires you to constantly post contents with hashtags, jump on trending topic and so on. This is something that worked like magic in the early days of the internet. This is basically a scenario where you think a domain that would be valuable in the future, Buy it and put it up for sale at a much higher price. Domain names are as low as $10 but you can resell them as high as possible depending on its worth. Godaddy published a list of 25 domains that were sold for millions. The list featured domains like insurance.com which was sold for $36.5Million in 2010, PrivateJet.com was sold in 2012 for $30.1Million.

This is definitely something you can do but it also has to do with some level of luck and a lot of thinking. This reminds me of one of my favorite books by Napoleon Hill “Think and Grow Rich”.

16. PAYONEER FUNDS EXCHANGE

Payoneer is basically an online payment gateway that allows people like us (Maybe you) who work online receive funds seamlessly. It is a US based company that helps you get paid by online platforms like Fiverr, Freelancer, Amazon etc.

Opening a Payoneer account gives you a virtual bank account in 6 different countries including

1. The USA
2. Canada
3. Germany
4. The UK
5. Australia
6. Japan.

The challenge is that most online entrepreneurs have in Nigeria and a few other African countries is that most of them do not know how to move this monies to their Nigerian bank account. Some of the cannot deal with the charges when they withdraw from an ATM using the Payoneer MasterCard. Payoneer also allows youto transfer to your bank account directly but there is a fee for every transfer. This makes is difficult for most.

What you need to do is

1. Open a dollar account in any Nigerian Bank of your choice then a Payoneer account (Click here to open a Payoneer account and get $25 sign up bonus).
2. Add your Dollar account to your Payoneer account
3. Get these online entrepreneurs to send you their funds in exchange for Naira (You can find them by running Instagram Adverts)
4. When your Payoneer balance gets to like $1000, $10000 or even $100000 depending on how much naira you can spare, transfer the money to your Nigerian bank account.
5. The money gets there is about 3 working days
6. Go to the bank and withdraw the Dollars
7. Go to aboki and exchange it for the current black market price
8. Repeat the circle over and over again

I normally buy payoneer funds from people at about N320 per dollar and I sell for N360 per dollar. That gives me a profit of N40 on each dollar exchanged.

17. SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT

The demand for Social Media Managers has increased drastically and various research has shown that this is not going to slow down anytime soon as more and more businesses find their way on social media. Even individuals running their own businesses need remote social media managers. This means that you can actually manage multiple social media account for different customers and get paid by all of them at the end of the month.

Think of a scenario where you have 10 clients paying N50k monthly. That would translate to a whopping N500k monthly. I can tell you for free that I know graduates who earn that in a whole year.

The good news is that you do not even have to do this by yourself. You can hire someone on fiverr.com to create contents and post for your client and use Kicksta to grow the followership on these platforms. We are back on Fiverr. This is because Fiverr is the place i recorded the first and  most significant success in my early days of searching for making money online ideas. I have been on fiverr for a long time. All the ideas i am giving you here are things I have tried personally. Most of the other articles i have seen online on this topic were written based on research as opposed to personal experience which I have a lot of.

Selling social media content creation on Fiverr singularly made me the money for my first Car in 2017.

This involves creating designs for people to post on Instagram, Facebook and even Twitter as these popular social media platforms require a steady supply of contents.

To do this,

1. You need to setup a fiverr account and create a gig for this purpose.

19. ONLINE FOREX TRADING

This is an area I would not call myself an expert. I believe in choosing our battle wisely. I do not consider this my battle but it could be yours. I also have friends who are expert Forex traders and they make a lot of money online doing this. I have however gotten a thousands of resources from them in this area and I have compiled this video to help you access this Forex tutorial that will definitely help you make money using the internet in Nigeria.

20. SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

As a student, Undergraduate, Unemployed, Under employed or someone looking for a profitable side hustle. Software installations are something that is still in very high demand.

All you need to do is buy an external hard-drive (1 or 2 TB). Download softwares that are in very high demand and save them on your external hard drive. Your colleagues, friends or family members will definitely need one or more of these softwares sonner or later. That is an opportunity to make money.

Your challenge might be where to download this software free. Softwares like Photoshop that are in very high demand can be very expensive.

This is a not so popular Internet Marketing technique that can make you a lot of money in no distant time. This is synonymous to Affiliate marketing. Launch jacking is the process where you identify Yet-to-be-launched digital products, produce a promotion review in form of an article or video.

This is another make money online idea that is proven because once these product are released, people are going to want to know more about it so they end up on google search and youtube. Your content provides the answers they are looking for and they end up making a purchase with your affiliate link. Jeff Lenney made over $10000 in one night using this method.

The advantage is in knowing before the product launch. That is what a website called MUNCHEYE.

Munch Eye provides details of all products months before they Launch. The owners or platforms like JVZoo, Warrior Plus, ClickBank put a lot into creating awareness. Potential buyers will definitely want to know more and like i said earlier, they turn to google and YouTube which are the biggest search engines in the world today. This means that to succeed as a Launch Jacker, you must have some basic SEO Skill.

22.  REAL ESTATE AGENT

Real estate agents make a lot of money offline. A lot of multi-million Naira companies are built around getting a commission for the sale and/or rent of landed properties. These people have to go around in search of these properties and pitching them to their clients who need these properties. You can do this online from the comfort of your home.

This is something I did from my early days as a graduate back in Calabar, I met an old man who had a land for sale. I got details of the land from him and uploaded to Nigeria Property Center. 

Two weeks later, someone contacted me and actually bought the land. I got a 2 Million Naira Commission for basically uploading the land details. I uploaded details of my self contained apartment for long lease after i graduated and my rent was yet to expire. A young woman named Jenifer who just came into the country contacted me and i collect my full rent for 1 year and left the house for her for 6 months.

This website “www.testingtime.com” allows you to earn money testing digital products. With a price tag of 50 Euros per hour, This is definitely something you should sign up for immediately as it is a proven method to earn money online in Nigeria.

This is another method to money making idea that works in Nigeria and elsewhere as it involves sitting in front of your computer to complete tasks  and get paid for it. The task involves using these websites, apps etc and giving an honest feedback.

24. JUMIA J-FORCE

Jumia offers ordinary people like you an opportunity to become Independent sales consultant. This program is what they call J-Force.

This program allows you to start making money on Jumia with zero investments. Like I mentioned earlier. Jumia is basically an online marketplace. It has been referred to as the Amazon of Africa.

In recent times, Instagram has become the new online store. The successes recorded by many Nigerians who sell online on this amazing platform continues to blow my mind. Logistics companies like GIG and payment processors like PayStack target this ever growing market.

Most people will stock products like hair, clothes etc but this article in centered around you not paying anything but still making money with the help of the internet in Nigeria hence I will not elaborate on this.

What i did a long time ago was negotiate a wholesale dealer of sports Jerseys in a Lagos market, then i took pictures of what he had in stock and started posting these pictures on an Instagram account created specifically for this purpose. I inform the dealer once there is an active order in my Instagram DM for one or more of these products and a dispatch rider is sent to deliver to the buyer.

This is another way to monetize your blog. I already talked about starting a blog as one of the ways to make money online in Nigeria. I am assuming that you started this blog already. If you have gone through the SEO course i recommended earlier in this article, you will understand that Backlinks from other websites to yours gives you more authority and helps enhance your rankings on the google SERP (Search Engine Result Page).

People are ready to buy these backlinks from your blog is your authority is good. A backlink from an authority blog costs about $100. These people also provide free original article with counts as content for your blog.

At $100 per Backlink, 10 Backlinks will give you $1000. That definitely is a good monthly income for a start. This will definitely go up as you gain more authority. This is more money and another reason for you to start that blog if you are really interested in making money online in Nigeria and of course everywhere else in the world.

32. GET PAID FOR ONLINE SURVEYS

Paid online surveys is another way to earn money online in Nigeria. This could be the easiest of them all since all you need to do is sign up, Respond to an online survey where you basically answer a few questions and get paid for doing this.

The image above shows how drop shipping. This is another proven method to make money online. Drop shipping is a beautiful business model because the retailer does not have to purchase the good and keep them for customers to come get them. The system is setup in such a way that the retailer promotes these products but the manufacturer, wholesaler or another retailer fulfills the order.

This can be done on amazon and even Jumia where you upload details of products available on Aliexpress.com or DHGate.com at a price slightly higher that that of your supplier. When a customer orders and makes payment Aliexpress fulfills the order and gets paid while you make a profit.

The popular way to do drop shipping is to use SHOPIFY. This however is a little pricey in my opinion but if you have the money, Shopify is the best drop shipping platform in the world.

Drop shipping has made a lot of online millionaires in recent years. This video below will help you get started with drop shipping if you interested in pursuing this as a business model.

33. CREATE A PAID ONLINE COURSE

I have always been of the opinion that everyone has a skill set that is unique in most cases. The issue we have most times in that we think we are not good enough to teach others. Teaching in most cases will help you get better hence the need to put yourself out there.

I created my first online course teaching people how to design a flyer that can be sold on Fiverr with no prior knowledge of graphics design. I was able to d this using Adobe Fireworks and FreePik.com. Immediately put an advert on Instagram and 5 person bought almost immediately. I spent no money creating these courses. I just used my laptop and a free software called OBS Studios to record my screen and voice. This is the same software i use to make most tutorial videos I put out on YouTube every other day.

After creating this course, I zipped and uploaded it to Google drive and setup PayStack to help me with automated revenue collection. Here is a video on how to setup Paystack. Paystsck is the leading online payment aggregator in Nigeria today.

You can alternatively decide to host these courses online and make it more professional. I would recommend Udemy and Builderall which is where my course “The Complete Fiverr Course” is currently hosted. Builderall is an amazing platform both for course creation and other things. Personally, I think creating and selling a course can be a very lucrative source of extra passive income as you only need to do this once and leave it alone. Every income you make from selling these courses is profit.

There is no reason why you should not start doing this immediately.

34. START A PODCAST

This can be likened to a blog and YouTube channel. A blog has to do with text, YouTube deals primarily with Video contents while podcast deals with Voice.

You can start a podcast talking about something you care about. Monetizing a podcast is not as easy as it is with YouTube and a Blog (AdSense). Monetizing a podcast means that you have to work so hard to build a large followership base and either reach out to potential advertisers or wait for them to reach out to you.

Truth is, if you have the audience, They will reach out to you. You can start a podcast on
